Welcome to my pages
Hello
Thank you for taking the time to check this out. This is the first of many posts on my very own website!
This is both a new way of working and a very familiar pattern for me. I have been teaching and tutoring for over 20 years, but always on someone else’s payroll or someone else’s website. The excellent site I have been using has unexpectedly closed, meaning I have had to use my own writing skills to promote myself. And let me tell you, it is daunting! I know how brilliant I am, but it isn’t very British to promote that to you lovely people out there.
As we head into June and the end of the UK academic exam period, I am preparing to say goodbye to some of the amazing students I have worked with. It’s a bit of a mix of emotions for me. I love working with them all, and I have worked with some truly astonishing young people. I have watched them grow in confidence and knowledge, and have seen them ready to move on to their next challenges. It’s hard to say goodbye, but, in the nicest way, I hope I don’t see them again - that means we have all done our best.
Before they finish I had to check that I still have the right number of cats. Higgs is the number one emotional support cat for GCSE students in the Chandler’s Ford area, but the other two are also prepared to give advice online or in person in exchange for a bit of a fuss.
Some of my students are not quite finished yet and for us, the summer break is in sight, or a little bit of summer boot camp. Don’t feel too sorry for them though - each lesson comes with a cat, cuppa and a KitKat.
My writing work keeps me busy over the quiet times, with a bit of advertising, a bit of information maintenance and hopefully, some new clients. Watch this space!
